What is the difference between the rod side lock and the head side lock of MGG series end lock type guide cylinders? Also, how exactly does the end lock work?

The rod side lock locks when the piston rod is extended (locks in the retracting direction), while the head side lock locks when the piston rod is retracted (locks in the extending direction).
