Is it possible to replace the elements of old AW series filter regulators (e.g., 2 digits: AW40, 4 digits: AW4000)?

The element part numbers of the current AW (AW□□-A/-B) and old AW series (2 digits: AW□□) are the same.
The elements of the current product (AW□□-A/-B) are interchangeable with those of the old AW series (4 digits: AW□□□□).
Note) The old AW series (4 digits: AW□□□□) was released in 1986 and its element material was switched from sintered metal to non-woven fabric in 1996.
