What is the meaning of the “8” and “5/16” engravings on the release button of KQ2 series One-touch fittings?

The release buttons of ø8 mm and ø5/16 inch fittings are shared. However, the size can be identified by the color of the release button (light gray is for the metric size and orange is for the inch size). Similarly, the release buttons of ø4 mm and ø5/32 inch fittings as well as ø3.2 mm and ø1/8 inch fittings also have both sizes engraved.
