What are the PE and X ports of VFS and VFR series valves for? Can these ports be plugged?

PE port:
This port is used to exhaust the pilot air. It is usually open to atmosphere or used with a silencer mounted.
Do not plug this port. If it is blocked, the pilot air cannot be exhausted and the valve operation will be affected.Refer to the video below for details
on the internal pilot type. Video
X port:
This is the external pilot pressure supply port. If an external pilot type valve (semi-standard) is mounted, supply pilot air to this port at all times. This port is not used when only an internal pilot type valve is used. It does not matter if you leave it open or plug it in such cases.
