Check the pressure on the speed control side (exhaust side) of the cylinder as well as the opening angle of the adjustment valve. Meter-out control is a control method in which the speed of the cylinder is controlled using the cylinder exhaust flow rate. Pressure must be secured on the exhaust side for meter-out control. If the exhaust side is at atmospheric pressure or if the pressure difference from the supply side is too large, cylinder lurching may occur. On the other hand, meter-in control is a control method in which the speed of the cylinder is controlled using the cylinder supply flow rate, so even if the exhaust side is at atmospheric pressure, cylinder lurching does not occur.
Note 1) Meter-in control is easily affected by load fluctuations which may make control difficult. Refer to the FAQ section for further details on the differences between meter-in and meter-out control.
Note 2) The ASD series dual speed controller has both a meter-in and meter-out function for flow rate control in both directions.
The ASD series catalog can be found here.
