Is it possible to select a new VX2 series valve for air with a C37 or stainless steel body?

Yes, this is possible.
If a C37 or stainless steel body is desired for a 2-way valve for air, select either the VX2□4 (for medium vacuum) or the VX2□2 (for water).
The difference in part numbers is due to the difference in sealant material: FKM (for medium vacuum) or NBR (for water). In addition, the VX2□4 (for medium vacuum) is oil-free as standard.
