There are 2 types of air-hydro booster: a direct type and a pre-load type, as shown below.
Direct type: This type is equipped with an oil pot on the air-hydro booster. It operates at high pressure over the entire stroke for the discharge flow rate.
Pre-load type: The first stroke is hydraulic pressure from an air-hydro converter attached separately. When operation starts, the first stroke is low-pressure operation (same as air pressure). In the second stroke, high-pressure operation is achieved by switching another valve and flowing air directly into the air-hydro booster. In this case, the stroke of the high-pressure operation is the amount of oil discharged from the air-hydro booster.
Note) Single-side air driving of SMC hydraulic cylinders is possible, but the increased pressure will drop if air gets inside the air-hydro booster, so be sure to drive both sides with oil whenever possible.
